Obama Strikes Out

September 13, 2007 / by thinline

Obama strikes out with the Jewish community.

While peddling his foreign policy position in Iowa, Obama had Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser, in tow.  Brzezinski says that Obama offers “a new definition of America's role in the world.”

The problem is that Brzezinski, who defended a controversial new book about the power of the “Israel Lobby” in American politics in a recent article, has as a result, himself become controversial. The article, according to Politico.com, inserted Brzezinski “into one of the most heated debates in America-Israel politics.”

Obama says he does not endorse the book and yet he endorses the endorser of the book. Typical Obama double speak and do. (This smacks of the reasoning Obama uses to support that he does not take PAC money, just big money from employees, spouses and the networks of PACS).

It is a tremendous mistake for Barack Obama to select as a foreign policy adviser the one person in public life who has chosen to support a bigoted book,” said Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz, one of the most visible critics of the Walt and Mearsheimer volume, titled “The Israel Lobby.” (Dershowitz has contributed to the campaign of Obama’s leading rival, Senator Hillary Clinton of New York.)

>>>  But this incident should really come as
no surprise to ThinLine readers. <<<

Strike one:  On April 30, ThinLine posted that Obama, with his 20 page sales pitch titled “American-Israeli Relationship Issue Packet,” in hand, told the National Jewish Democratic Council  “My commitment to you is unwavering.”

But two days later at a debate, WITH HIS NOTES IN HAND, when asked to name America’s three most important allies, Obama went with Japan, the European Union and NATO.  No mention of Israel.  It was not until after a little help from the moderator that Obama tacked on Israel.

Strike two: And then a few months later, a Jewish group criticized Obama for accepting support from a former basketball player who said the Jews killed Jesus.

New York Magazine's Daily Intelligencer reported that ex-New York Knicks guard Allan Houston is hosting a fund-raiser Saturday at his home for Obama.

Houston drew fire from Jewish groups in 2001 when he said in a pre-game Bible study session that Jews had Jesus' "blood on their hands" and were "stubborn." Houston apologized at the time, saying his remarks were taken out of context, but the American Jewish Congress said Obama's association with Houston was still inappropriate.

"I don't think Barack Obama would make comments like that about Jews," David Twersky, the group's communications director, told the Intelligencer. But "if someone made those kinds of remarks against African Americans, he would eschew their support. It would be a different standard."

Strike three, Barack, you are SO out.

ASK OBAMA TO STOP INSULTING VOTERS

Barack Obama is clueless when it comes to foreign policy. He does not possess the instincts that will be required to lead this country as we move forward in a very unsettled world.

This is what scares me....sometimes when an elected official at least has the sense to know that they DON'T KNOW, they hire people who do know but it seems that Barack could not even do that right.
