Law on Lies by Politicians

October 7, 2007 / by thinline

Hey, Barack, there is finally some good news for you!

You can sell snake oil without fear of any legal recourse in the state of Washington. The New York Times has an article today by Adam Liptak titled “Law on Lies by Politicians is Found Unconstitutional.”  Excerpt here:

Not that they need encouragement, but politicians were given the green light to lie about their opponents by the Washington Supreme Court the other day.

More than a dozen states have laws that make it unlawful to say false things about political candidates. The laws are, in practice, mainly aspirational. By a 5-to-4 vote on Thursday, the Washington Supreme Court added that the law in that state was also unconstitutional.

That means, Barack, at least in the state of Washington, you can continue to claim that you do not take PAC money without fear of being hauled into court for telling a lie!!!  Because everyone knows that you do take money from state PACs and from the spouses, employees and “networks” of federal PACs and lobbyists.

ThinLine, having once served in a judicial capacity, says that is a distinction without a difference at best and now a constitutionally protected lie at worst.

Pass the snake oil !!!!

ASK OBAMA TO DO A REALITY CHECK
