Like Howard Dean?

October 3, 2007 / by thinline

Sour grapes in Obamaville.

The NYT, referring to Clinton’s fundraising this quarter, asked SmarmMaster David Axelrod if “the bulk of political momentum favored Mrs. Clinton over Mr. Obama right now.”  SmarmMaster responded by trotting out the Howard Dean story implying that he, Dean, had a lot of money and still lost and suggesting that the same could happen to Clinton.

Pathetic. Really pathetic. Honestly, is this what Obama pays the Boys Club the big bucks for?

The truth is that comparing Howard Dean’s fall from frontrunner to the possibility that the same fate may be in store for Clinton is to compare apples and oranges.

Howard Dean had been governor of a small state. No one knew him. He created an unprecedented buzz and fundraising machine on the internet but had no real ground support and not much to fall back on.  Dean was walking a political tightrope.  So, any one misstep, even a small one, could result in sudden and complete campaign death, which it did.

Clinton, on the other hand, is a former First Lady, a two time senator from a populous state, and is the benefactor of an existing, strong, and grounded Clinton campaign structure and fundraising machine.  That is to say, she has a foundation. She is walking on solid ground.

So, sorry SmarmMaster. Not the same. Not happening.

ASK OBAMA TO GO AWAY.
The whole thing is just becoming painful and embarrassing.
