All You Can Eat !!

September 9, 2007 / by thinline

The New York Times today offers a front page story concerning Barack Obama’s ill advised decision, a most illustrative example of Barack’s ego driven, self centered bad judgment,” to run against U.S. Representative Bobby Rush. Those of you who read ThinLine already knew about this political disaster and one in a series of Barack betrayals.

The story is disturbing.  It presents a very clear picture of a person with whom, if not for his pleasing appearance and inspiring speaking cadence, you would not want to have lunch.  Congressman Rush once said of Barack: “He went to Harvard to become an educated fool.”

But the most disturbing discussion is the genesis of all this “hope” talk. After the voters in Rush’s Congressional District saw Obama for the empty handed opportunist that he was and is and sent Barack politically packing with Rush stomping him taking 70% of the vote, Barack knew he had to come up with a more appealing way to peddle his snake oil.

Enter: hope.

Mr. Shomon said, “There was a gradual progression of Barack Obama from thoughtful, earnest policy wonk/civil rights lawyer/constitutional law expert to Barack Obama the politician, the inspirer, the speaker.” Denny Jacobs, a friend of Mr. Obama and a former state senator, agreed. “He stumbled on the fact that instead of running on all the issues, quote unquote, that hope is the real key,” he said. “Not only the black community but less privileged people are looking for that hope. You don’t have to talk about health care, you have to talk about ‘the promise’ of health care. Hope is a pretty inclusive word. I think he is very good at selling that.

“Hope” is, for Barack, the political equivalent of Homer Simpson’s “all you can eat.”
